As one of the “calmer” activities during my bachelorette party, my girlfriends took me on a beautiful bike ride across the Golden Gate Bridge during the 75th anniversary. After we made it across, we stopped in Sausalito. Everything was so beautiful!

When I said “I do”…I didn’t mean dishes

I received this apron as a bridal shower gift from one of my bridesmaids. Let me point out again, that I, Megan Stanphill, received it as a gift but it seems like Brian has taken over the apron and is now calling it his.
I don’t think so!
Twig & Turtle Photography Engagement Shoot
This past week, Liz Margerum from Twig & Turtle Photography, took engagement photos for Brian and I in Old Southwest Reno.
Liz was an absolute pleasure to work with. She is a photojournalist in Reno, Nevada and has been for more than 12 years. Though she has worked for newspapers, she has a keen eye for portraits! Just look at these photos she took of us! Oh. My. Goodness. Truly in love with them. She really captured our personalities perfectly. Riding the tandem bike was a personal favorite.
Check out her site. “Like” her on Facebook. She is crazy talented!
Where to Get Creative Inspiration in the Biggest Little City
Originally posted on Ad2 Reno‘s website.
To be creative is to be curious and, let me tell you, there is a lot to be curious about in Reno. From people watching on Second and Virginia streets to the new businesses popping up in Midtown, creative ideas are flowing freely.
Basically, be curious about your community. There are a lot of beautiful places within the Truckee Meadows, both public and hidden, that may inspire your creativity. Take a walk near the river, stroll down city alleys that feature murals by local artists, attend community events, and (my personal favorite) eat at a new restaurant. Food cures all creative ruts.
Here are a few of my favorite places and things that inspire me to strive for creative excellence:
Midtown Eats
Absolutely love this restaurant. From homemade light fixtures made out of recycled bottles to candles to book covers used as receipt holders, Midtown Eats is a DIY, Pinterest-worthy mecca. Did I mention they have great food?
Terry Lee Wells Nevada Discovery Museum
Inside one of Reno’s newest attractions — a museum dedicated to teaching children about science — is a three-story cloud-like jungle gym. And like the four-year-old boy climbing to its top, I was just as inspired watching action from afar. So for a little inspiration, and a $10 entry fee, take a stroll through this facility and simply play.
University of Nevada, Reno
From its classic brick buildings to a vibrant campus community — from student events to art exhibitions — there is always something going on at Nevada’s oldest (and best) college campus.
Bibo Coffee Shop
This is a personal favorite. I love sipping on a large cup of this Reno coffee house’s Chai tea on my lunch break to unwind from a busy work day, regroup my thoughts and come back re-energized. Locations near the university, downtown and the Old Southwest.
Random Acts of Art
Have you noticed the art behind The Ross Manor? Behind Ceols? Have you noticed the beautiful sketchings on downtown newspaper bins? There are many other samples of random acts of art. Have you noticed any?
Ad2 Reno…of course
The people. The ideas. Being around each member reminds you why you’re in the ad business. And having others to chat about business, bounce ideas off of and celebrate the successes of our tiny, but tight, community is inspiring in itself.
There’s always something to be found in Reno that may inspire creativity. Some places are obvious, some are hidden. You just have to be curious enough to find it.
If you have a spot that inspires creativity, share it in the comments.
The little things in life

It’s the little things in life that truly make me happy…like eating soup with Brian out of our coffee cups we bought at Disneyland.
What are the little things in life that make you happy?
Home means Nevada
Should you work for free?
Found this on Gawker.
If you are ever faced with the question, “Should I do this for free?” just remember the answer is NO unless you’re doing a favor for your mom or your church. If you charge your mom or God, you’re just wrong.

I’m engaged!
Brian proposed on Saturday, December 18th, 2010. It was an amazingly simple and uncomplicated proposal. It was everything I would have imagined it to be.
He told me a week in advance that we were going to do a “pre-Christmas” event before we head off to Las Vegas to see our families. I didn’t think anything of it.
For our first event, we went to the ice skating rink. Mind you – the entire week and weekend we had a massive snow and rain storm. Sadly, it was way too cold and miserable to ice skate. Instead, we went to the local coffee shop and had hot chocolate with mini marshmallows. After that, we drove around looking at Christmas lights.
For dinner, we went to Adele’s – the classiest joint in Carson. We ate a delicious dinner. Brian then proceeded to ask me if I wanted to go see a movie and I said yes, but we had to go drop off our leftovers first.
When I got to our front door, there was a red rose laying on the ground. I was a bit surprised but didn’t think anything of it. When I opened the door, there were roses leading up to our kitchen table and I was like…”ooo roses! Thanks.” I was totally oblivious.
On the kitchen table there was a gift box and a small sign that read “Open me!” I tore open the box and there was another box inside. I couldn’t seem to get it open and Brian took it from me, opened it with ease, and inside of it there was a ring box. It didn’t hit me that he was proposing until he got on his knee and when he did, I was completely shocked. He said:
Megan, since the first day I met you, I knew you were the one for me. You are perfect in every way. Will you marry me?
I was at a loss for words. I stuttered out a “YE….YE…” and then it finally came out…”OF COURSE!” He was still on his knee so the only thing I thought to do was to tackle him. After tons of kisses and tears, he popped open a bottle of champagne, and of course, we finished it off soon after.
The proposal was absolutely amazing. We were in the comfort of our own home and each other’s arms.
DIY Wall Art #2
Here is our next wall art project. It’s just as easy as the last one, but requires a little more time. We were inspired by one of the blog posts on Tangente. Click there for directions.
This is just another great example of simple and inexpensive wall art.
Good luck on yours and of course, share when you’re done.
DIY Wall Art
After being inspired by The New Domestic, Brian and I decided to paint a picture for our living room. We’re on a somewhat tight budget but wanted to spruce up our place with art. This was the perfect project. Click on the above link for directions.
After you’re finished, share your painting with me! I love seeing other peoples’ art!
